To say “some of the comedy appeared to be extracted from Extract” would be the type of corny joke you’d hear in Extract,
but not here on da Dominion.

Peter Jackson’s new movie ain’t about hobbits on a long walk. District 9 is an Alien Nation story filmed like Children of Men with themes similar to Amistad or Schindler’s list.
Based on your enjoyment of those films, you could judge for yourself … or allow me to elaborate.

A big plus of coming of age is that Hollywood can draw you in to see new flicks based on your childhood favorites. The downfall is having your initial hopes dashed as they completely “reimagine” the story, effectively murdering fond memories.

Judd Apatow has always put a smidge of saddness into his films.

The Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy has a good pedigree. Written by Adam McKay and Ferrell whom collaborated on Anchorman and Talladega Nights, two very funny flicks, its a funny but … unusual movie.
It does have definate LOL scenes:
